One Year After One Giant Moment

On a considerably drier December 1st evening, exactly one year after the Opening Ceremony of the 2006 Doha Asian Games, a load about of about 20 of the Ceremonies team, still in Doha, gathered under a rather impressive bunch of steel to have our photo taken.

We guessed there were about 20 others who weren't able to make it. We all chatted for half an hour or so, took photos and then seemingly disappeared all back in our own directions. "Nostalgia ain't what it used to be..." as they say in the classics.

As an aide mémoire, I took a few other snaps of the stadium and screen which you can find if you scroll down. There doesn't seem to be any blood sweat or tears left here now - just what one can only describe as a relic (perhaps a masterpiece-relic ?) and a bunch of guys in blue overalls fighting an eternal battle trying to keep the dust off it.
